Traditional television has experienced vast changes since the introduction of streaming in the audiovisual market.

Cable Girls is the first Netflix original series produced in Spain and it has been a pleasure to be part of the wardrobe team in its fourth season.
In 1928, a modern telecommunications company opens its doors in Madrid. The series narrates the story of four young women at the start of their job in the company. The four of them feel restrained, in different ways, to their family, their partner or their memories.
The fourth season begins in 1930. The stock market crash of 1929 and the resulting collapse of the New York Stock Exchange launched a worldwide crisis which affected all walks of life and gave way to The Great Depression. This period of severe economic recession affected the fashion industry in two ways: in one part, the designers were forced to use low-cost, more sober materials with little or no frills, nevertheless maintaining a level of elegance and sophistication. Garment repair and homemade dressmaking made their way back. Synthetic fibers that imitated silk were created, such as nylon and polyester.
But in spite of a harsh reality, people could still dream. Cinema takes the lead, recovering the public’s spirit. Hollywood stars turn into icons. Modern dressmakers design opulent, impressive evening gowns highlighting tapered silhouettes, plunging necklines, and exposing the bare back. Platinum blondes triumph. In the 30’s, the female anatomy is celebrated, breasts reappear, uplifted, and waistlines and hips are accentuated thanks to the girdle.

Binge-watching is a term that defines marathon-like viewing of digital television programs. Netflix was the first to launch complete seasons of its original series. So in that case, grab your popcorn and enjoy the fun.
